Amazon Referral Fee Calculator

Amazon takes a referral fee on every sale, and the rate depends on your product category. Enter a price to see exactly what it costs and what you keep.

$

The total the buyer pays, including shipping and gift wrap (tax excluded). Amazon charges the fee on that total, not the item price alone - which matters most on merchant-fulfilled listings where you set the shipping charge.

Sets the referral fee rate. Power tools (drills, saws) bill at 12% - pick "Base Equipment Power Tools", not Tools & Home Improvement (15%).

Every category at this price

Category choice is worth real money. Here is the same sale price across every Amazon category, cheapest fee first - your selection is highlighted.

What this does and does not include

This is the referral fee only - the commission Amazon charges on every sale. It is separate from FBA fulfilment fees, storage fees and advertising.

Most categories carry a $0.30 minimum referral fee, so on very low prices the effective rate is higher than the headline percentage.

Media categories (books, DVDs, video games, consoles) also carry a fixed per-unit closing fee, shown as its own line.

Some categories are tiered: the rate changes above a price threshold, and a few charge each portion of the price at its own rate. The calculator handles both.

Estimates only, based on the price and category you select. Referral rates vary by category and Amazon revises them periodically - always confirm current rates in Seller Central. Figures are for the US (amazon.com) marketplace; other marketplaces differ. This covers the referral fee only, not FBA fulfilment, storage or advertising. Nothing you type is sent anywhere; the calculation runs entirely in your browser.

Referral fees are the easy part

The fee on a single sale is simple arithmetic. Knowing your real margin per SKU, after referral fees, FBA fees, storage, returns and ad spend, is the hard part - and it is what decides whether a product is worth selling.
